Community Guidelines

Last updated: March 2026 (v1.0)

1. Purpose

Koru is a community-driven news platform where credibility is earned through accurate voting and quality contributions. These guidelines help maintain a trustworthy environment where users can participate with confidence.

2. Be Honest

Vote based on evidence, not opinion. Your credibility score reflects your track record of voting accuracy. When you vote on whether content is credible or not credible, you are contributing to the community consensus that shapes what surfaces on the platform.

Inaccurate voting lowers your influence over time. Vote carefully, in good faith, and with the intention of helping the community identify credible information.

3. Be Respectful

No harassment, threats, or personal attacks. Criticise ideas, not people. Keep discussions constructive and focused on the content and evidence.

Disagreement is healthy. Hostility is not. Treat other users with the same respect you would expect in return.

4. No Manipulation

No coordinated voting, sockpuppet accounts, or attempts to game credibility scores. The credibility system only works if votes reflect genuine individual assessments.

Accounts involved in manipulation will be permanently banned. This includes creating multiple accounts to artificially influence scores, coordinating voting campaigns with others, or using automated tools to cast votes.

5. Quality Contributions

When submitting articles, provide accurate information with proper sourcing. Misleading headlines or fabricated content will be removed.

Your submitted content is subject to community voting. If you consistently submit low-credibility content, your credibility score will reflect that, and your future submissions will carry less weight.

6. No Spam

No promotional content, repetitive posting, or irrelevant links. Commercial activity is not permitted on the platform.

Spam dilutes the signal and wastes community time. Accounts engaged in spam will be restricted or terminated.

7. Report, Don't Retaliate

Use the report function for content that violates these guidelines. Don't engage in retaliatory voting or harassment.

If you see a violation, report it. Our moderation team will review and take action if warranted. Retaliatory behaviour is itself a violation of these guidelines.

8. Enforcement

Violations may result in warnings, temporary restrictions, credibility penalties, or permanent account termination. Koru reserves the right to take action at its discretion.

Serious violations (coordinated manipulation, harassment, spam) may result in immediate termination without warning. Repeat violations will not be tolerated.

9. Changes

We may update these guidelines as the platform evolves. Continued use after changes means acceptance of the updated guidelines.
